Custom window treatments that bring a blend of elegance and efficiency can be created at Coastal Shades, 439 N. El Camino Real. Owner Cesar Jimenez opened this business featuring the main brand of Hunter Douglas on July 1, 2024. With a store in Encinitas, North County Blinds, his family business has expanded to San Clemente. Cesar realized the opportunity for a custom window treatment store in South Orange County and wanted to provide San Clemente residents with the same outstanding five-star service that he and his team have been providing for the customers of Northern San Diego County for the past few years.

Cesar’s background in the window covering business started in Colorado as a one-man show selling, installing and designing. He sold the store, moved to California, started a new business in Temecula, sold that one, and two years ago, took over North County Blinds, a respected name in the window-covering industry in San Diego since 1985. According to Cesar, Coastal Shades is a one-stop shop ensuring that the blinds compliment the style of the home and are functional. 

Jen De Salvatore is General Manager of both stores, and there are four designers, including Cesar. The services offered in-house include design consulting, installers, and a local Hunter Douglas window-treatment expert for a completely customized experience. 

Among the abundant products to choose from is the innovative pirouette shade, exclusive to Hunter Douglas. This shade specializes in automation and motorization and gives the appearance of a traditional Roman shade with the additional function of operable vanes.

Cesar and his wife, Adria, are at the helm of these two stores and eventually their four daughters will round out the family business.  As a girl dad, his hobbies are his four daughters ages 15, 14, 12, and 11. The oldest is into musical theater and dance. Two of his daughters are artsy and enjoy the design aspect of the business. The other two are mechanically inclined and engineering types.
